Decatur, Georgia — More than two years after Xavia McClary was shot and killed, his family continues to seek justice for a man they say lost his life while trying to protect others.
This case was shared with The Vivid Faces of the Vanished by Xavia’s sister, Jamil Colts, who continues to advocate for answers in her brother’s homicide.
According to family members, Xavia was doing what many people hope a friend would do in a dangerous situation.
He stepped in to help.
He never made it home.
Xavia McClary was 30 years old when he was killed on March 24, 2024.
What Happened at Plush Lounge?
According to investigators and family members, Xavia was attending an after-hours birthday celebration at Plush Lounge on South Rainbow Drive in Decatur, Georgia.
At some point during the evening, two women in the group reportedly rejected advances from a group of men inside the club.
Witnesses stated that one of the men became increasingly hostile after being turned down.
The situation escalated into a confrontation involving one of the women.
According to family members, Xavia stepped in to defend his friends.
Moments later, gunfire erupted.
Investigators say Xavia was shot and killed during the incident.
He died at the scene.
Family members have also raised concerns about security procedures at the establishment, alleging patrons were not properly screened for weapons before entering.
Investigation Remains Active
The DeKalb County Police Department continues to investigate the homicide.
Authorities have released surveillance images of three individuals they believe may possess important information about the shooting.
Investigators have emphasized that these individuals are considered witnesses and not suspects.
Detectives have also sought information regarding a beige Chevrolet Tahoe or Chevrolet Suburban with black rims and an aftermarket exhaust system that may be connected to individuals present that night.
Authorities additionally sought to locate Jaquante Shepherd, who was working as security at the venue, believing he may possess information relevant to the investigation.
As of mid-2026, no arrests have been announced.
The case remains unsolved.
A reward of up to $5,000 is available for information leading to an arrest.

In the aftermath of Xavia’s death, his family transformed their grief into action.
Loved ones established TALL: To Always Love Life (TALL, Inc.), an organization created in his memory to promote peace, uplift communities, and honor the life he lived.
Family members say Xavia’s death left an enormous void in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
They continue to advocate for justice while ensuring his name is remembered for the person he was rather than the violence that ended his life.
