Tonee Turner’s Belongings Were Found on a Bridge — But She Was Gone

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania — December 30, 2019

Tonee Turner was 22 years old when she disappeared in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

She was an artist, a metal fabricator, a daughter, and a sister deeply loved by the people around her.

What should have been an ordinary trip home on December 30, 2019, became one of Pittsburgh’s most troubling unsolved disappearances.

Tonee Calls Her Sister on the Way Home

After finishing work that day, Tonee reportedly stopped at Dobra Tea before boarding a bus toward the Hazelwood neighborhood.

Around 6:00 p.m., she got off the bus and called her sister.

She was only minutes from home.

But Tonee never arrived.

Later that evening, a man walking across the Homestead Grays Bridge discovered several of her belongings on the pedestrian walkway.

Her cellphone.

Her keys.

Her wallet.

And a ceramic pot Tonee had personally made.

Tonee herself was nowhere to be found.

Her Wallet Later Appears Somewhere Else

The circumstances became even more puzzling after her disappearance.

At some point, Tonee’s wallet reportedly appeared in another location, tucked beneath one of her missing person flyers.

Who moved it there — and why — has never been publicly explained.

Investigators extensively searched the surrounding area, including nearby waterways, but no trace of Tonee was found.

No body has been recovered.

No confirmed sightings have emerged.

Her Family Rejects the Suicide Theory

Tonee’s family has strongly rejected theories that she intentionally disappeared or died by suicide.

According to her loved ones, nothing about her behavior, conversations, or plans that day suggested she intended to harm herself.

They believe something happened to Tonee after she stepped off the bus.

Years later, there is still no confirmed explanation for how her personal belongings ended up on the bridge or what happened to her afterward.

Tonee Turner Remains Missing

Tonee is described as a biracial African American and Caucasian female standing between 5’2″ and 5’3″ tall and weighing approximately 130 pounds.

She has brown eyes, chin-length black or dark brown hair, multiple ear piercings, a nose piercing, a labret piercing beneath her lower lip, and a spiral tattoo on her left shoulder.

Tonee was last seen wearing a black zip-up jacket, a gray shirt with “Habla Espanol” written in orange lettering across the back, gray cargo pants, and possibly a black head wrap.

A young woman called her sister while making her way home.

Hours later, her phone, keys, wallet, and handmade pottery were found on a bridge.

Tonee was gone.
