Charlottesville, Virginia | July 4, 1998
On July 4, 1998, 11-year-old Quinn Renard Woodfolk was home alone at his family’s residence in the Friendship Court neighborhood of Charlottesville, Virginia.
School was out for the Fourth of July holiday.
His father had gone to work.
When he returned home later that day, Quinn was gone.
He has never been seen or heard from again.
A Child Vanishes
Quinn left behind his personal belongings.
There was no note.
No confirmed sightings.
No known communication.
And no explanation for how an 11-year-old child vanished from his own home.
In the early stages of the investigation, authorities believed Quinn may have run away.
Police later received unconfirmed tips suggesting he had been seen with drug dealers in Detroit, Michigan, or in the Harlem neighborhood of New York City.
None of those leads could be verified.
Despite years of investigation, detectives have reported receiving no substantial or credible information about Quinn’s whereabouts since the early 2000s.
A Case That Remains Active
Today, Quinn’s disappearance remains an unsolved cold case.
The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and the Charlottesville Police Department continue to keep his case active and have released age-progressed images showing what he may look like as an adult.
At the time of his disappearance, Quinn was 11 years old.
He stood between 4 feet 9 inches and 4 feet 11 inches tall, weighed approximately 89 pounds, and had black hair and brown eyes.
He also had scars near one of his eyes and a birthmark on the top of his head.
He was last seen wearing a red shirt, blue jeans, and blue-and-white sneakers.
More than 28 years have passed.
