Atlanta, Georgia — July 1, 2016
Jokisha “Dynasty” Brown was preparing to celebrate another year of life.
The next day would have been her 36th birthday.
Instead, July 1, 2016, became the last day of her life.
Dynasty was sitting inside her Mercedes SUV in the parking lot of a strip mall along Cheshire Bridge Road in Atlanta. She had stopped for something routine.
She was getting her makeup done.
There was nothing to suggest danger was waiting just outside her vehicle.
Then gunfire erupted.
Jokisha “Dynasty” Brown was shot multiple times and killed.
She was 35 years old.
A Targeted Attack
Investigators described the shooting as anything but random.
Nothing was stolen from the vehicle.
Police said the nature of the attack indicated Dynasty had been specifically targeted and that the killing may have been a professional hit.
Whoever carried out the shooting appeared to arrive with one purpose.
To end her life.
Nearly a decade later, no one has been charged with her murder.
More Than a Public Figure
Dynasty was known throughout the Atlanta and Jacksonville entertainment communities.
She was a model.
An actress.
She starred in the film Queen Pin and appeared in numerous music videos.
But beyond the cameras and public appearances, she was something even more important to those who loved her.
She was a mother.
She left behind a teenage son who would grow up without her.
The Investigation
Months before her murder, Dynasty’s former boyfriend, Alfredo Capote, allegedly kidnapped and sexually assaulted her.
Authorities said she managed to escape by jumping from a moving vehicle.
Following Dynasty’s murder, investigators identified Capote as a person of interest.
He disappeared.
A nationwide manhunt followed.
In 2017, Capote was located and arrested in Louisiana on federal fraud charges after spending approximately one year on the run.
In 2022, he was transferred to Gwinnett County, Georgia, to face charges related to the alleged kidnapping and sexual assault.
As of the most recent public records, however, he has not been formally charged with Jokisha “Dynasty” Brown’s murder, and the homicide investigation remains open.
A Family Devastated Twice
Dynasty’s death was not the first unimaginable tragedy her family had endured.
Just four months before she was murdered, her brother, Marlon Brice, was shot and killed outside a nightclub in Jacksonville, Florida.
Within months, one family buried two siblings in two separate shootings.
Today, they continue searching for answers in both cases.
Nearly a decade has passed since Jokisha Brown was killed.
The questions remain.
Who pulled the trigger?
Who ordered the attack?
