Greenwood, Mississippi — The Brittany Thompson disappearance remains one of Mississippi’s most troubling missing persons cases. The 22-year-old Greenwood woman vanished in November 2023 and has never been found. Brittany was just 22 years old when she vanished from Greenwood, Mississippi, in November 2023. More than two years later, despite arrests, indictments, and an ongoing investigation, her family is still searching for answers.
Brittany Thompson Disappearance Investigation
Brittany was last heard from on the afternoon of November 22, 2023, when she spoke with her mother. Later that evening, she was reportedly seen in Greenwood with an unidentified male. That would be the last known sighting of the young woman.
After that night, Brittany seemingly disappeared without a trace.
Concern quickly grew among family members and loved ones as days passed without any contact. Then, on November 24, 2023, investigators located Brittany’s white Mercedes-Benz SUV abandoned on Old Browning Road in Greenwood. The discovery deepened concerns about what may have happened to her.
Arrests Made in Brittany Thompson Disappearance Investigation
As the investigation progressed, law enforcement began making arrests connected to Brittany’s disappearance.
Shortly after she vanished, authorities arrested 40-year-old Charlie Newman Jr. and charged him with kidnapping. Months later, in July 2024, a second arrest followed when 41-year-old Stanley Blackmon was taken into custody in connection with the case.
The investigation continued to move forward, and by November 2024, a grand jury had indicted both Newman and Blackmon in relation to Brittany Thompson’s disappearance and apparent death.
Despite those developments, one critical piece of the case remains unresolved.
Brittany Thompson has never been found.
Authorities now believe the 22-year-old is likely deceased, but her family still does not have the answers they have sought since the day she disappeared. Without Brittany’s recovery, many questions remain unanswered, and those who love her continue to wait for the opportunity to bring her home.
At the time of her disappearance, Brittany was described as a Black female standing between 5’0″ and 5’1″ tall and weighing approximately 120 to 130 pounds. She has black hair, brown eyes, and was last seen wearing all-black clothing.
The investigation into Brittany Thompson’s disappearance remains active.
