Murdered on New Year’s Day — His Twin Babies Never Got to Know Their Father
Dayton, Ohio — January 1, 2019
The family of Larry “Poochie” Love reached out directly to The Vivid Faces of the Vanished to bring renewed attention to his unsolved murder and the pain they continue carrying without answers.
Larry was 36 years old.
A father. A son. A man entering a brand-new year with twin baby daughters waiting for him at home.
His little girls were only 6 months old when their father was killed. They have had to grow up knowing Larry through photographs, stories and the memories of people who loved him because someone took away his chance to raise them himself.
Gunfire on New Year’s Day
Around 5:00 a.m. on January 1, 2019, Dayton police responded to the 2200 block of Hepburn Avenue after reports of gunfire.
When officers arrived, they found Larry lying in the street.
He had been shot and was unresponsive.
Larry died there.
As panic spread through the neighborhood, frightened witnesses called 911.
One caller reportedly told dispatchers:
“All I know is… I heard gunshots. This man is dead on the street.”
Another witness described seeing a crowd of approximately 10 people fighting shortly before the shooting erupted.
That meant people were nearby when Larry was killed.
Yet the case never produced the answers his family desperately needed.
Years Without an Arrest
No one has been publicly held accountable for Larry’s murder.
His family has been left wondering who fired the shot that killed him, what led to the violence that morning and how a shooting witnessed by people in the area could remain unsolved.
They have also had to watch Larry’s twin daughters grow from 6-month-old babies into children who never received the opportunity to know their father for themselves.
The family reached out to The Vivid Faces of the Vanished because they do not want Larry’s case forgotten.
More than 7 years have passed since he was killed on Hepburn Avenue.
His daughters have spent virtually their entire lives without him.
His family is still waiting for the information that could finally identify the person responsible and bring accountability for what happened during the first hours of 2019.
