Joshua Davis Was 18 Months Old When He Vanished From His Family’s Home

New Braunfels, Texas — February 4, 2011

It was freezing that night.

Inside his family’s New Braunfels home, 18-month-old Joshua Davis was running back and forth, laughing and moving from room to room while Toy Story played in the background.

His pregnant mother, Sabrina Jackson, was watching him. His father was there. His grandparents were there. Two family friends were also inside the home.

Then Joshua disappeared.

One moment, the toddler was moving through the house.

The next, no one could find him.

Joshua Vanishes From the House

Sabrina walked through the home expecting to find her son playing somewhere nearby.

No one had seen where he went.

Years later, she described one detail from that night that continued to trouble her.

“There was only one person who left that home at the time,” Sabrina said. “That was the last time I saw my son. I haven’t seen that person since — they vanished too.”

According to Sabrina, when that individual was later contacted, their account of what happened changed.

The person reportedly claimed Joshua had followed them outside into the freezing cold and that they had brought him back inside before leaving.

Joshua’s grandmother, Natalie Varga, said that when this individual came to speak with police that same night, the person arrived with an attorney.

Police Question Everyone Inside the Home

Investigators repeatedly questioned the people who had been inside the house that night.

Police have stated that they do not believe Joshua was kidnapped. Instead, investigators have suggested that he may have been injured and then removed from the home.

Other theories followed.

Authorities raised the possibility that drugs may have been present inside the residence, that Joshua could have gotten into something, and that someone may have panicked and concealed what happened.

But those theories have never produced an arrest or explained where Joshua went.

There have been no arrests.

No charges.

Joshua’s body has never been found.

And his disappearance remains unsolved.

His Mother Says Investigators Treated Her as a Suspect

For years, Sabrina said she felt investigators treated her as the primary suspect despite her continued cooperation.

“They always treated me like I was the number one suspect,” she said. “But I’ve done everything they asked.”

Without definitive evidence showing what happened to her son, Sabrina has continued holding onto the possibility that Joshua could still be alive.

She has seen cases in which missing children were found years later.

That possibility has allowed her to keep hoping.

His Family Still Marks His Birthday

More than 15 years have passed since Joshua disappeared.

His birthday is still remembered every year.

Every Christmas, his family still places a gift beneath the tree for him.

Joshua was only 18 months old when he vanished from a house filled with people.

There was no confirmed kidnapping.

There was no body.

There was no arrest.

And whatever happened during those missing minutes inside or around that New Braunfels home has never been fully explained.

His family is still waiting for the one thing they have been denied since February 4, 2011:
