The sister of Vicxon Gray, Shidazja Lucas, reached out to The Vivid Faces of the Vanished regarding her brother’s unsolved homicide—a case that has now been moved to cold case status while his family continues searching for answers.
Vicxon Gray was just 24 years old.
He was from Fort Wayne, Indiana.
A father of three.
A son.
A brother.
A man whose family never imagined a trip to visit a friend would end in tragedy.
A Visit That Ended in Violence
On May 18, 2023, Louisville Metro Police officers responded to a report of a person down at approximately 1:30 p.m. in a rear driveway in the 1700 block of Wilson Avenue in Louisville’s Park Hill neighborhood.
When officers arrived, they found Vicxon suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.
Emergency medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
According to his family, Vicxon had traveled from Fort Wayne to Louisville about a week earlier to visit a friend.
A Sister’s Search for Answers
His sister, Shidazja, shared the pain her family has endured since losing him:
“We live in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He went to Louisville to visit a friend and had been there for about a week. On May 18, I called my brother and didn’t get an answer. About an hour later, detectives contacted my dad and told him my brother was dead. He was found in an alley. He had a large amount of money on him, and when he was found, his money and phone were gone.
I tried to contact the same ‘friend’ he was visiting—and he had me blocked. He was the only person my brother knew in Louisville.
My brother was loved. He was a father of three, a brother, a son. We haven’t had any justice, and it’s been hard to grieve knowing the people responsible are still out there. I want to know what happened. I was on video chat with my brother on May 17 and everything seemed fine—and by May 18, he was dead in an alley.”
An Active Cold Case
Nearly two years have passed.
Police have not publicly identified any suspects.
No arrests have been made.
The investigation, once handled by the Louisville Metro Police Department Homicide Unit, has since been transferred to the department’s Cold Case Unit.
For Vicxon’s family, the unanswered questions remain overwhelming.
He left home to visit someone he trusted.
He never made it back to Indiana.
His children deserve answers.
His family deserves the truth.
And Vicxon Gray deserves justice.
