Ronisha Jackson and Kiera Tanter Murders: St. Louis Double Homicide Remains Unsolved

They were only 20 and 16 years old.

A summer evening at the park turned into a scene of chaos, gunfire, and unimaginable loss.

More than a decade later, the murders of Ronisha Jackson and Kiera Tanter remain unsolved.

Gunfire at Gravois Park

On July 26, 2012, at approximately 9:15 p.m., Ronisha, Kiera, and several friends were gathered at Gravois Park, near the intersection of Miami Street and Louisiana Avenue in St. Louis.

Without warning, gunfire erupted.

Investigators say one or more unknown shooters opened fire into the crowd, striking five people.

Ronisha Jackson, 20, and Kiera Tanter, 16, were both critically wounded.

They were rushed to a local hospital but later succumbed to their injuries.

Three other victims survived the shooting.

Authorities believe the violence may have stemmed from an argument between two groups.

According to Ronisha’s family, the intended target was her boyfriend, who was shot in the leg but survived.

Another Family Tragedy

Years later, Ronisha’s family endured another heartbreaking loss.

On April 25, 2019, her 25-year-old brother, Ronald Jackson Jr., was shot and killed on South Grand Boulevard—less than a mile from where Ronisha lost her life.

One mother was forced to bury two of her children because of gun violence.

Still Waiting for Justice

Despite years of investigative efforts, no one has ever been arrested or charged in connection with the murders of Ronisha Jackson and Kiera Tanter.

Their case remains an active, unsolved double homicide.
