Two Brothers Killed
On July 20, 2006, St. Louis police officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 3000 block of Walton Place, near the intersection of Greer Avenue and Walton Place.
When officers arrived, they found Rodney Gates suffering from fatal gunshot wounds.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Nearby, officers located his brother, James Gates, who had also been shot.
James was rushed to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
In a matter of moments, one family lost two brothers to violence.
Nearly Twenty Years Without Justice
Despite years of investigation, no one has ever been arrested or charged in connection with their murders.
Today, the case remains an active, unsolved double homicide.
