After learning about his family’s fight for answers, we knew his story deserved to be shared.
What Police Reported
On December 27, 2025, Gainesville Police responded to reports of an injured man beneath the Interstate 75 overpass on Southwest Archer Road in Gainesville, Florida.
The man was later identified as 30-year-old Tyrone “Dro” Davis Jr.
He had suffered catastrophic head injuries.
Because he could not immediately be identified, he was admitted to the hospital as a John Doe.
Two days later, on December 29, 2025, Dro died from his injuries.
According to the Gainesville Police Department, detectives determined that Dro had jumped from a moving vehicle following a verbal argument with his girlfriend while they were returning from a Christmas cabin getaway.
Police ultimately classified his death as non-suspicious, ruling out foul play.
No criminal charges have been filed.
Why His Family Questions the Findings
But Dro’s family says they do not believe that is what happened.
They have publicly challenged the official findings, pointing to what they believe are significant inconsistencies surrounding the investigation.
According to the family, medical personnel indicated that Dro’s severe skull fractures appeared more consistent with direct blunt-force trauma than injuries from jumping or falling from a moving vehicle.
They also question the timeline provided by his girlfriend, who reportedly told investigators she left the scene and drove to a nearby gas station to allow Dro time to “cool off.”
Instead, strangers eventually found him critically injured beneath the overpass and called 911.
His family has also raised concerns about what they describe as unexplained financial activity.
They allege that substantial amounts of money were transferred or withdrawn from Dro’s bank account shortly after the incident.
Additionally, loved ones claim the girlfriend’s account of what happened changed multiple times.
A Family’s Call for Another Look
Believing important questions remain unanswered, Dro’s family has launched public awareness campaigns and petitions calling for a more thorough criminal investigation.
Across social media, thousands have rallied behind the hashtag #JusticeForDro, urging authorities to take another look at the case.
His family isn’t asking people to speculate.
They’re asking people to look closer.
To ask questions.
And to make sure every possible lead has been fully investigated.
Because they believe Dro deserves nothing less.
