Gregory K. Travis Jr.’s sister reached out to The Vivid Faces of the Vanished because nearly a year has passed, and her family is still waiting for the phone call that tells them someone has finally been held accountable.

Instead, they continue to wake up every day with the same unanswered questions.

The same empty chair.

The same heartbreak.

A Walk Home That Never Ended

On August 6, 2025, 27-year-old Gregory K. Travis Jr. was walking home through the Lawless Gardens area in Chicago’s Douglas neighborhood.

He never made it.

According to his family, surveillance video shows a vehicle driving past Gregory before coming to a stop near the 3500 block of South Rhodes Avenue.

Four unknown individuals got out of the car.

They opened fire in Gregory’s direction.

One of the bullets struck him.

It was enough to take his life.

Gregory died from his gunshot wounds.

Nearly a Year Without Answers

Nearly a year later, no one has been arrested.

Chicago police have not publicly released suspect descriptions, identified those involved, or announced a motive for the attack.

His family continues to wait for answers.

A Sister’s Plea

In the words of Gregory’s sister:

“Gregory was gunned down walking home near 3516 South Rhodes in the Lawless Gardens area. Video shows a car driving past and stopping, and four unknown people got out and shot toward him, one actually striking him. We just want justice and want to get whoever done this. It’s been nearly a year and no answers still.”

Someone knows who was inside that car.

Someone recognizes the people seen on that surveillance video.

And someone has the information that could finally give Gregory’s family the justice they have been waiting for.

Anyone with information regarding the murder of Gregory K. Travis Jr. is urged to contact the Chicago Police Department or submit an anonymous tip through Cook County Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-535-STOP (7867).
