Wilson County, Tennessee — The murder of Mya Fuller shocked communities across Middle Tennessee and left a family grieving the loss of a young woman whose life was taken through deception, violence, and a calculated series of events.
Mya Fuller was 22 years old and lived in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Friends and family described her as intelligent, ambitious, and full of potential. She had recently worked an event for Nashville SC at GEODIS Park and was focused on building her future.
On July 30, 2022, Mya believed she was attending a social gathering.
According to investigators, she had been lured through social media to what she believed was a party at Island Vibes nightclub in Antioch.
The day before, a dispute had occurred between Mya and Taiyana Tipton.
Authorities later determined that the conflict did not end there.
When Mya arrived at the gathering, investigators say a confrontation broke out and quickly escalated. What followed would ultimately lead to her kidnapping and murder.
Mya Fuller Kidnapping and Murder Investigation
Investigators determined that after the altercation, Mya was forced into the trunk of a vehicle.
She was then driven miles away to a rural area along Trammel Lane in Wilson County.
There, authorities say she was shot seven times.
Her body was abandoned in a wooded field.
For six days, Mya’s family did not know where she was.
When investigators eventually located her remains, they recovered seven shell casings from the scene.
As detectives worked to reconstruct the events leading to her death, surveillance footage helped identify those responsible and establish the timeline of the crime.
Arrests and Convictions
Prosecutors identified Taiyana Tipton as the primary assailant in the kidnapping and killing.
In March 2025, Tipton pleaded guilty to first-degree premeditated murder and felony murder. She was sentenced to life in prison.
Investigators also determined that Tipton’s brother, Ty’Shawne Bowles, played a role in bringing Mya to the gathering. Prosecutors stated that Bowles contacted Mya and invited her there despite knowing about the existing conflict.
On October 14, 2025, Bowles pleaded guilty to facilitation of especially aggravated kidnapping and received a 12-year prison sentence.
A third participant, La’Myra Pipkins, later entered a guilty plea in March 2026.
During court proceedings, Mya’s mother, Tonya Fuller, spoke about the daughter she lost. She described Mya as kind, intelligent, and undeserving of the violence that ended her life.
Authorities concluded that Mya was deliberately targeted in a chain of events that began with deception and ended in a remote field far from where her evening started.
She was only 22 years old.
